Another example of why we're all better off living in Canada.

This is pretty screwed up but I'll do my best. Juliano Mer-Khamis was born to a Palestinian father and Jewish mother. He lived in the northermost part of the occupied West Bank in a city named Jenin. It's actually more of a permanent refugee camp than what we would consider a city here in Canada.

Juliano's mother started a theater a few years back. A children's theater. The idea was that this theater would give the children of Jenin something to do other than be out in the streets, where a murderous cycle of rock throwing, machine gun firing, suicide bombing and air striking. The insane game of Israeli-Palestinian chicken.

Anyway, Juliano decided that it would be a good idea to do a documentary film about the theater. It was filmed over a number of years and some of the boys in the film would grow up to become suicide bombers, getting swept up into the insanity.

After his mother's death, Juliano continued on with the theater, The Freedom Theater, presenting plays such as Orwell's Animal Farm.
